    WHAT A WEEK!

well this week got off with a bang...no pun intended. after all there was a bomb scare at the local walmart as well as a few others i am told and it seems. the call was traced from portugual. what does portugal have against walmart exactly? and if it is some sort of political statement against the treatment of overseas workers, why only five stores? anyway that happened tuesday i think. third shift really messes up my sense of time. desmond and i spent the day out at the pool. my hair is desperate to be blonde. i am starting to think if i had not been a little hermit in junior high my hair may never have darkened.

tuesday was also the last night my friend yvonne worked third shift so no more bringing my laptop to owrk. time for nick at nite and nappy time again! we will definitely have to make a point of keeping our weekly meal and hang out even if it isnt breakfast anymore. i plan on sleeping during the day as of september 5th!

last night i got my shift started in a funny way. i was on the phone with my mom and the coworker i was relieving(ill keep her name out of this to avoid folks picking on her) started shrieking help ventura come quick!!! i found her standing on the coffee table pointing at the double doors at the back of the lobby. ..

...now a few weeks ago i thought i saw something scurrrying in the shadows but was convinced i was seeing things due to stress, lack of sleep. turns out i really did see something...

a teeny tiny little field mouse that i had to strain to se. small and blended well with the carpet. i can not believe there are some many people afraid of little things like bugs and rodents. i think its hysterical. i told her to hold her position and when in search of a broom to shoo the little guy out the door. no luck. she jumped down and hauled ass out as her shift was over. leaving me and my new friend. do you think for one minute knowing that mouse was there kept me from sleeping from 1:30am to 6am?

YOU BET YOUR ASS IT DIDNT.

its nice to not be a dainty girly girl sometimes. otherwise id have been terrified all night. i was asked if i wanted company to go down to the scary basement to get pillows too. i was like ...uh..no thats ok. in case you all havent noticed, i revel in the creepy and spooky.

today i actually enjoyed shopping. yea i know...i who am lacking the girly shopping gene enjoyed it. mostly due to the fact that i was shopping for my kid. i love shopping for others...just not myself and i hate stores. everything about shopping in stores i hate. we got all his back to school clothes and shoes, we both got haircuts. yes pictures will be coming. i had several inches taken off and no my hair that was down to the middle of my back is just above my shoulders. its so cute!!! i also treated myself to a new purse, earrings and a top for my date tomorrow. yes folks i said date. yea yea i know i said im not looking but we seemed to click enough to make meeting worthwhile.

the rest of the week has been pool workouts, and sleeping...oh yea and work.

hope you all have been having a great week!

    blessings,

    ventura

    WHERE I'M COMING FROM

    Monday, August 27, 2007, 06:59 PM [General]

here is some informationĀ that gives a good breakdown of my spiritual path. this is not meant to convertĀ  but simply to give you an idea of where i am coming from. i welcome friends of all paths. blessed be!

A BRIEF INTRODUCTION TO THELEMIC WICCA

Thelemic Wicca is a tradition-in-progress that recognizes the contributions of Aleister Crowley's brand of ceremonial magick to the Western mysteries, and emphasizes the discovery and development of each individual's true will in a context of community.

Thelema in Greek means will, and Thelemic Wicca requires individuals to discover and develop their unique capacities. Reading, research and inquiry develop the mind; sensory, physical, bardic and meditative experiences center the body and emotions.

We acknowledge that we are urban Pagans of the twenty-first century, and we do not pretend to be our indigenous ancestors (or any other peoples) living in their hereditary homelands. We hold that magick is a form of internal self-transformation based on conscious choice.

We spend our lives walking through the realms of our own shadows, that place of our denied and repressed hopes and fears. Rather than continue this denial and repression, the goal of Thelemic Wicca is to use the power of will to bring forth, transcend and incorporate the shadow to achieve wholeness.

While we work with pantheons of the Middle East and Europe, our approach is closest to that of the Hellenistic Greeks. This civilization encompassed both the logical and intellectual capacities of scholars and philosophers, as well as the ecstatic and creative practices of the mystery religions, art and theatre. Thus we seek to combine both Apollonian and Dionysian aspects: the scholar dances; the mystic thinks.

We also hold that belief in deity is purely a matter of personal preference. Though members may openly express and debate their opinions, no member may impose their views of divinity upon another.

We do acknowledge that actions have consequences. We understand that not every occurrence in a person's life will be of their own conscious or unconscious choosing, but every individual has the power to choose how they will respond to each situation. We recognize that such concepts as karma and the Threefold Law may have personal significance, but there is no authoritative, objective proof of their validity, so belief in them is an individual choice.

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law. Love is the Law, Love under Will.

This is the code of Thelemic Wicca, as opposed to the Wiccan Rede ("an it harm none, do what thou wilt.") Our work focuses on self-understanding and personal accountability within a group framework of structure and support.

Every man and every woman is a star. The name of our Coven, Kyklos ton Asterion, means "circle of stars" in Greek. Kyklos ton Asterion has a degreed, initiatory system; initiations are given on the basis of effort and demonstrated knowledge, not simply attendance. However, we do listen to suggestions and feedback, and are always ready for a good argument. NOTE: Only those who have completed the Grove training are eligible to apply for Coven membership.

Each person who comes to Grove is an individual with their own abilities, difficulties and unique character traits, and we strive to help them develop themselves accordingly.
